a. What is your topic and why?
My topic is aerospace engineering, because it's something that has always interested me, and it seems like a good way to start a potential career.
b. ESLRs
iPoly citizen: Engineering, from my understanding, is all about numbers and application. A good engineer is someone who's capable of applying information in new ways. A good citizen of the school is someone who can help others solve their problems by thinking outside of the box.
Effective communicator: If you can't understand what you're speaking about, you're less likely to get your point across.. Many people have told me that I don't have the personality of an engineer, and this is because they tend to be quiet and soft spoken. iPoly has made me a better speaker, and being able to communicate clearly with the skills of a presenter, and concisely with the mathematical skills of an engineer would give me a huge edge
Effective learner: As I've said, being able to think and rationalize in new ways is a good strategy that's not only applicable in mathematics, but in all fields. Many people learn better when they put their thoughts into a physical form, and that's what engineering is all about.
Effective user of technology: All modern engineering uses technology to its fullest extent. We've made huge advancements due to everything that is now available to us, and without proper utilization of technology, you can't be an effective engineer. These two things go hand in hand.
